Obama’s betrayal of Biden exposes the party’s lack of morals
Ado, and Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan all evaded endorsing Harris; the same for former President Bill Clinton, who was with Obama and his vice president throughout the impeachment process a quarter-century ago; Secretary of State Jesse Jackson, who was also with Obama and his vice president through a major crisis in his office a decade ago; and Senator Dianne Feinstein. Every Democrat who has known both men for decades and elected to serve in their vice president’s and president’s administrations to the exclusion of others — such as House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, who was in the Oval Office when Biden agreed to suspend himself for a fool’s errand — declined to support Harris.
Then there are the moderate millionaires who have been just as vocal about their surprise presidential preferences, from former Starbuck’s chief Howard Schultz; former Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein; Wall Street financier Jeffrey Katzenberg; investor Chris Sacca; and former NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg. They all took a pass on endorsing Harris, citing their belief in a more cautious approach to party unity.
As Obama and the Democrat Party weigh their endorsement amidst the impending censure vote in Los Angeles, many Democrats fear Obama’s support will fracture the party and the nation, and effectively denote the downfall of Harris before the presentation of speeches and the vote for her to present the final policy platform and the ticket’s nominees.
