According to the Department of Justice, three Mexican nationals were arrested in El Monte on Thursday for allegedly possessing a million fentanyl pills.
According to the arrest affidavit on Tuesday, Florencio Camacho Allan, Florencio Gaixola Patino, 29, and Alex Valdez Oroz, 25, met at a Denny’s in El Segundo with two buyers to discuss selling 10,000 fentanyl tablets. Then, they sold one million pills.
Prosecutors claimed that Allan and Gaixola Patino fled the meeting and drove to the parking lot, where they sold the buyers 10,000 Fentanyl pills at $7,500. While law enforcement was watching, the suspects left the restaurant.
Later that day Allan allegedly confirmed his group’s interest in a one-million pill sale and showed one of the buyers his Volkswagen Jetta’s full of pills through a WhatsApp conversation.
Investigators carried out ground and overhead surveillance of the Jetta on Wednesday morning as the group planned to buy the drug. Investigators then arrested the Sinaloa, Mexico Natives at El Monte Holiday Hotel. The drugs in the Jetta were then seized.
Allan, Gaixola Patino, and Oroz are facing charges of possession with intent distribution controlled substances. If they are convicted, they will be sentenced to life imprisonment
According to the Drug Enforcement Administration, they are currently investigating the arrests in the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area program (HIDTA). Homeland Security Investigations, Hawthorne Police Department and Fullerton Police Department, El Monte Police Department and the California National Guard provide assistance.
