On Monday, two major U.S. foes met in Moscow as Russian President Vladimir Putin welcomed Chinese President Xi Jinping. The two leaders, who referred to each other as “dear friends,” discussed a range of issues, including China’s efforts to mediate the conflict in Ukraine. Notably, China proposed a peace plan without American involvement.

This meeting comes on the heels of China’s successful diplomatic push for a deal between Iran and Saudi Arabia and as the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued a warrant for Putin’s arrest over war crimes.

Geopolitical analyst Harley Lippman spoke with One America’s Alicia Summers to discuss the implications of these events.
