One person killed and another injured in Tennessee school shooting
One student was killed and another was injured during a school shooting at Antioch High School in Nashville, Tennessee.
The perpetrator, a 17-year-old male student, shot two female students in the school’s cafeteria at 11:09 a.m. before he shot himself. Ages for the victims have not yet been released by police.
A spokesperson for Vanderbilt University Medical Center told News 2 that three patients were brought to the hospital, one of whom was pronounced deceased upon arrival while another was treated for a graze wound to the arm.
Another student suffered a face injury but was not hit by gunfire, police said.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, Tennessee Bureau of Investigations, and the FBI are assisting with the incident.
Gov. Bill Lee (R-TN) has been briefed on the situation.
“I’ve been briefed on the incident at Antioch High School and am grateful for law enforcement & first responders who responded quickly and continue to investigate,” Lee said in a statement. “As we await more information, I join Tennesseans in praying for the victims, their families & the school community.”
