Online Threat Closes Michigan School District Where Oxford Shooting Occurred
An online threat led officials to close classes on Tuesday in the same Michigan school district where a 15-year-old student shooter killed four students and injured seven other people two weeks ago.
The Oxford School District announced the decision after a “specific threat” in a social media post directed toward the district’s middle school.
“Out of an abundance of caution, we are canceling school in all our buildings on Tuesday, Dec. 14. We plan to do a full security check of all our buildings while our security experts and law enforcement conduct their investigation,” the district said in a statement, according to Fox 2 Detroit.

“Please talk to your students and remind them that all threats at Oxford Community Schools will be taken seriously, investigated by law enforcement, and will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law,” it added.
The closings included schools across Oakland County.

Police are currently investigating the situation. The district’s schools had already been closed for several days following the previous incident.

The threat takes place two weeks following the November 30 tragedy at Oxford High School. The shooter has been apprehended and faces one count of terrorism, four counts of first-degree murder, seven counts of assault with intent to murder, and 12 counts of possession of a firearm while committing a felony.
The student’s parents were also arrested and face four counts each for involuntary manslaughter. The student’s father allegedly purchased the handgun used in the shooting on Black Friday as an early Christmas gift for his son.
Two lawsuits have also been filed by the survivors of Michigan’s Oxford High School shooting that seek $100 million each.
A lawyer announced the filing of the two lawsuits in Detroit, Michigan, on Thursday, the Associated Press reported.
The lawsuits have been filed by Attorney Geoffrey Fieger on behalf of a student who was shot in the neck and her sister, who was with her when she was shot.
