More than half of male prisoners posing as females are incarcerated for sex offenses, according to Wisconsin Corrections data.
Study Reveals Disturbing Statistics on Male Inmates Identifying as Women
According to a study conducted by the Heritage Foundation’s Oversight Project, over 50 percent of male inmates who identify as women and are held at the Wisconsin Department of Corrections have been convicted of sex crimes.
The study, based on prison records obtained by the Oversight Project, reveals that out of the 161 male inmates claiming to be transgender, 81 have been convicted of at least one count of sexual assault or sexual abuse.
However, these numbers may not reflect the full extent of the issue, as they only include individuals convicted of sexual abuse or sexual assault and exclude those with juvenile sex offense convictions.

‘Prison Is For Punishment’
While the data does not indicate the number of males identifying as females who applied to be housed at a female-only facility, it does reveal that none of the transgender-identifying men were charged with sexual assault or sexual abuse while in prison.
Mike Howell, director of the Oversight Project, strongly believes that “men belong with men and men only in prison.” He emphasizes that putting sex offender men claiming to be women in cells with women is contributing to America’s moral decline and that prison should be for punishment, not degenerate sexual behavior.
The Epoch Times has reached out to the Wisconsin Department of Corrections for clarification on the number of transgender-identifying males housed in female facilities and the measures in place to protect female inmates. However, no response has been received at the time of publication.
According to the Wisconsin Department of Corrections’ policy on transgender inmates, appropriate treatment and accommodations are provided for transgender individuals. Housing assignments for such inmates are made on a case-by-case basis, considering health, safety, programming, management, and security concerns, with careful consideration given to an inmate’s own views on safety.
While some argue that accommodations for female-identifying male inmates are necessary for their protection, others believe that these individuals are primarily seeking less restrictive housing conditions during their incarceration.
In Scotland, over 60 percent of transgender-identifying prisoners began their transition after being incarcerated. The Scottish numbers also revealed that seven female-identifying males were serving their sentences in female prisons.
One notable case in Scotland involved Isla Bryson, a female-identifying male who raped two women before deciding to “transition” and identify as a woman. The case sparked outrage when Bryson was initially housed in an all-female prison before being moved to a male facility.
Why Males Are Entering Female Prisons
Libby Emmons, editor-in-chief of The Post Millennial, explains that there is a growing number of incarcerated men pretending to be women in order to gain access to women’s prisons. Many of these men have a history of violence and have committed crimes against women.
Transgender-identifying men benefit from being housed in female facilities, as women’s prisons are often less secure and have more freedoms compared to male prisons. This situation creates concerns about the safety and well-being of female prisoners.
Harming Female Prisoners
Amie Ichikawa, who runs a nonprofit for incarcerated women, criticizes California’s law allowing men identifying as women to be housed in female prisons. She describes the situation as a “total chaos emotionally” within the women’s prison system and calls it the ”worst human science project” she has ever seen.
It is crucial to address the complex issues surrounding the housing of transgender-identifying males in female prisons to ensure the safety and rights of all inmates.
