Pam Bondi assures DOJ will ‘fight back’ against ‘unelected’ judges
Pam Bondi, the Attorney General, has expressed her commitment to counteract what she calls “outrageous” rulings from unelected judges that oppose the Trump administrationS efforts to reduce goverment size. In response to recent judicial setbacks, Bondi stated that the Justice Department would “fight back” against decisions affecting federal funding and agency operations.President Trump has also indicated plans to scrutinize judges following these rulings. Bondi highlighted the administration’s intent to appeal judicial decisions, potentially escalating cases to the Supreme Court if necessary. She argued that these judicial actions unjustly interfere with government spending policies. Senator Mike Lee echoed her sentiments, suggesting that delays caused by the judiciary are temporary and that the Trump administration would ultimately prevail in court. The discussion surrounds broader efforts to enhance government efficiency amidst ongoing legal challenges.
Pam Bondi assures DOJ will ‘fight back’ against ‘unelected’ judges
Attorney General Pam Bondi pushed back against the “outrageous” judges who have issued rulings against the Trump administration’s work to downsize the government, assuring that she and the Justice Department will “fight back.”
President Donald Trump said Tuesday that the administration will “look at the judges” in the wake of recent rulings, such as the Department of Government Efficiency getting barred from the Treasury Department’s payment system. In explaining Trump’s comment, Bondi argued that “unelected judges” are attempting to control government spending, despite how there is “a clear separation of powers.”
“People work their whole lives and pay taxes, yet they find out that they’ve been giving $2 million to Guatemala for sex changes?” Bondi said on Fox News’s America’s Newsroom. “It’s outrageous, and it is going to stop. We’re going to fight back, not only with USAID and all these other agencies, but, you know, this is happening every day. The DOD, we are prepared to defend all of these cases, and we will carry out President Trump’s agenda in this country.”
When Bondi was told that the president could not “go after” judges over decisions, the attorney general said the administration could appeal them. She added that her team is already appealing a decision and that it will go to the U.S. Supreme Court if necessary to combat the “outrageous, overzealous, unconstitutional judges.”
Amid these legal setbacks to the Trump administration, Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) has similarly contended that Trump’s team will win these legal arguments and that the judicial decisions are “just a matter of delay.” He then predicted that these delays would last no more than two weeks.
Amid Elon Musk and the DOGE’s work to downsize the government, the Washington Examiner’s Byron York assessed that they are doing more than just “firing people” with their work, they are also seeking to make the government work more efficiently.
