Get Ready for Six Drags over Texas: Six Flags Announces Drag Shows for Pride Month

June is here, and Six Flags over Texas is celebrating Pride Month with a bang! The amusement park announced on Friday that it will host drag shows every Friday and Saturday throughout the month. The show is considered family-friendly and inclusive for all ages, but anyone under 17 should consult with a parent or guardian if there is concern.

While many are excited about the announcement, some have voiced their objections on Twitter. But Six Flags is not alone in hosting drag shows for Pride Month. The Bay Area Six Flags location and Six Flags St. Louis are also featuring drag shows.

Controversy and Pushback

As noted by ABC, Texas lawmakers have been trying to limit attendance by children at drag queen shows and have passed a law to limit public performances of sexual conduct. The bill is expected to be signed by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott.

Republican state Sen. Bryan Hughes celebrated the victory in a May 29 Twitter post, saying, “These shows are indisputably inappropriate for minors, and we will not allow children to be sexualized nor preyed upon in Texas.”

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has also signed a bill that cracks down on the attendance of children at drag shows by giving the state the right to revoke the food and beverage licenses of establishments that let kids in to see drag shows.

Despite the controversy, Six Flags over Texas is standing by its decision to host drag shows for Pride Month. So, get ready for Six Drags over Texas and enjoy the show!
