Passenger arrested after trying to open emergency exit and stab flight attendant

Massachusetts man arrested for allegedly opening the plane’s emergency exit doors mid-flight. He then tried to stabbing a flight attendant.

Francisco Severo Torres (33), was taken into custody Boston On Sunday night, Logan International Airport was closed. He was charged “one count of interference and attempted interference with flight crew members and attendants using a dangerous weapon,” according to A press release by the Massachusetts United States Attorney’s Office.

This incident happened aboard a United Airlines flight departing from Los Angeles Boston approximately 45 minutes prior to the scheduled landing.

According to the press release the flight crew got an alert about the starboard emergency escape door being tampered with. They began their investigation. The suspicion arose, however, that Torres might have tampered the starboard emergency exit door. He denied this when confronted.

An attendant on the flight deck became concerned by Torres’s behaviour and requested that the pilot land the plane as soon as possible. Torres then apparently became violent.
