House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) said her decision on whether she will retire from politics will be “affected” by the Oct. 28 attack on her husband Paul.

In her first interview since the attack, Pelosi told CNN’s Anderson Cooper that her retirement plan will be impacted by “what happened the last week or two.” She did not say if she has already made a decision.

Republicans are favored to take the House, with FiveThirtyEight giving the outcome an 84 in 100 chance. With voters prioritizing crime and inflation, Republicans have received a boost in the final days before Tuesday’s election.

Pelosi recently said she “cannot believe anybody would vote” for Republicans.

Pelosi’s husband was attacked at their San Francisco home by assailant David DePape, who demanded to see the speaker. DePape was charged with attempted murder and several other felonies.
