Pelosi claims Biden’s face should be added to Mount Rushmore – Washington Examiner

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi recently suggested that President Joe Biden should be added to Mount Rushmore, calling him a “Mount Rushmore kind of‌ president.” In an interview, ⁢she expressed ‍that Biden’s presidency has been “so consequential” and emphasized the importance‌ of recognizing his contributions. ‌While ⁢discussing the presidential figures already represented ⁢at the monument—George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, and⁢ Theodore Roosevelt—she clarified that this would not mean removing any of them, but rather adding Biden to the existing sculptures.

Pelosi’s proposal has faced significant backlash on social media, with critics, including former Republican Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, labeling it⁣ as “laughably ridiculous” and questioning her state of mind during the interview. Huckabee expressed disbelief over her comments, suggesting that her statements warranted further explanation regarding her perceptions⁢ of Biden’s performance. The conversation around ⁢this topic has been quite polarized, reflecting deep divisions in American political discourse.

Pelosi claims Biden’s face should be added to Mount Rushmore

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) argued in a new interview that President Joe Biden is a “Mount Rushmore kind of president” and indicated his face should be included as part of the iconic monument.

The historic monument, located in South Dakota, features former U.S. Presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, and Theodore Roosevelt. Pelosi argued that Biden has been “such a consequential president” when reflecting on his term.

“But you got Teddy Roosevelt up there, and he’s wonderful,” Pelosi said. “I don’t say take him down, but you can add Biden.”

Pelosi’s suggestion has been widely rebuked online, with former Republican Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee calling it “laughably ridiculous.” He also questioned if the former House speaker was sober during her interview, as there had to have been “something to explain” her suggestion.

During her interview, Pelosi downplayed being part of a movement to oust Biden as the Democratic Party’s 2024 presidential nominee, as many began questioning his ability to win the election after his poor performance at the debate in June. Pelosi said she “did not call” anyone to pressure Biden out of the race, and that she was confident Biden would make “the proper choice.”

Pelosi was among many Democrats to endorse Vice President Kamala Harris as Biden’s replacement as the party’s 2024 presidential nominee. Democratic National Committee Chairman Jaime Harrison announced Friday that Harris has received the delegates needed to become the new nominee for the Democratic Party.

Gov. Kristi Noem (R-SD) has not mentioned Pelosi’s suggestion for Mount Rushmore on X. The Washington Examiner has contacted her office for comment.
