Pence slams Trump arrest rumors, but questions Democratic priorities

FMike Pence, former Vice President of the United States, slammed the prospect that his boss would be indicted and taken into custody next week.

On Sirius XM’s Breitbart News Saturday Pence claimed that he was in the program “taken aback” At the breaking news, former President Donald Trump may be indicted. Trump declared on Saturday morning that he was likely to be arrested Tuesday on charges related to hush-money payments that he made to Stormy Dans in 2016, his first presidential campaign.

REPUBLICANS DECRY POSSIBLE TRUMP INDICTMENT AS ‘ABUSE OF POWER’

“Well, like many Americans, I’m just, I’m taken aback,” Matt Boyle, Pence’s host, was informed by him. “You have a major crime wave in New York, especially in New York City. You have literally a Democratic party that’s literally dismantled the criminal justice system in that city, undercut the NYPD, and this is what the Manhattan DA says is their top priority?”

Pence didn’t defend Trump, but he did echo his criticisms about Alvin Bragg, Manhattan District Attorney, and his pursuit for the former president. He was doing so years after Bragg Jr.’s predecessor Cyrus Vance Jr. had decided not to file charges in the case.

Trump attacked Bragg’s Office “corrupt and highly political” In his Truth Social post from Saturday.

Many Republican officials defended Trump. Say it The investigation is a clear “abuse of power.”

Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), House Speaker, promised to open an investigation in Bragg’s office to determine if federal funds were diverted for Trump’s attempted prosecution.

“Here we go again — an outrageous abuse of power by a radical DA who lets violent criminals walk as he pursues political vengeance against President Trump,” McCarthy (R-CA), stated this in a tweet Saturday. “I’m directing relevant committees to immediately investigate if federal funds are being used to subvert our democracy by interfering in elections with politically motivated prosecutions.”

Pence continued to spew attacks on his radio show, raising concerns about one of Trump’s most grievances while in office.

“It reeks of the kind of political prosecution that we endured back in the days of the Russia hoax and the whole impeachment over a phone call,” Pence said.

Pence is expected later in the year to announce his run for the White House. He has retreated from Trump’s political attack and asked if Trump being held in jail is a smart investment of Democrats’ resources.

“I mean, the reality is the American people are hurting. Just this last week, we saw a couple of bank failures that are driven by liberal policies on the West Coast and on the East Coast,” Pence said. “You have inflation at a 40-year high. Wages are stagnant. … And so I have to tell you, I’m going to stay focused on the challenges facing the American people. It’s what people talk to me about as I travel around America.”
