PA mayor urges Trump to repay city before rally, despite no payment in 2018.

A Pennsylvania ⁢Town Demands Reimbursement from Donald Trump for Rally Expenses

A Pennsylvania town is ⁤taking a stand against former President Donald Trump, urging him to reimburse the city⁤ government for security and other services provided ahead of his ‌scheduled ‌rally this weekend. This comes after Trump failed to pay for a similar event in 2018.

Erie city officials are not⁤ backing down. They plan to ⁢submit an invoice to⁤ Trump, outlining charges for security detail and overtime costs for extra security provided by the⁤ Erie Police Department. It’s worth noting ⁢that Trump still owes $35,000 from his ⁣previous rally, where he campaigned for midterm candidates.

“I think we ⁤have to try,” says Erie Mayor Joe Schember. ”We are going to see whether we can get some payment from them⁣ in advance this time. It’s important to do this because we’re talking about taxpayer money ‍being used to help make the former president’s visit safer.”

Back in October 2018, Trump held an event at the Erie Insurance Arena, just a month before the midterm elections. Now, he plans to ⁢return to‍ the ⁢same⁢ location for his upcoming ⁢rally. However, it remains unclear whether the expenses‌ will be higher than ⁢they were five years ago.

The⁣ city officials have previously urged Trump to⁣ reimburse them for the ‌2018 ‍event,‍ but their requests have gone unanswered. It’s⁤ unclear how the city will respond if‍ Trump fails to pay this time or how they⁤ will enforce reimbursement.

As of now, it’s uncertain whether Trump⁣ intends to pay the city ‌before his arrival this weekend. The ⁤Washington Examiner has reached out to Trump’s spokesperson for comment, ⁢but there has been no response yet.
