Philadelphia DA says ‘we’re gonna blow it up’ when discussing Trump’s White House ballroom
Philadelphia District Attorney larry Krasner expressed a provocative and humorous vision regarding the destruction of the White House ballroom, which was ordered during Donald Trump’s presidency. During a slavery commemoration at Philadelphia’s Independence Mall, Krasner stated he plans to blow up the ballroom in an “official ceremony” and keep a piece of it as a paperweight. His remarks drew applause from some attendees, while others criticized him, notably Philadelphia resident Lindy Li, who called Krasner a disgrace.
Krasner linked this plan to the slavery exhibit at the President’s House in Philadelphia, asserting that while the exhibit would remain for as long as the federal park exists, the ballroom in Washington, D.C., would be destroyed. He also indicated that the Trump-named Kennedy Center would not survive. Krasner harshly criticized President Trump,calling him a “fool,” and other negative terms.
He explained that the destruction of the ballroom would be a symbolic act, with the exhibit and educational content intended to endure long-term. During a press conference on Tuesday, Krasner said the White House ballroom ordered by President Donald Trump to be constructed would be “blown up.” The Philadelphia district attorney made the remarks during the 24th annual slavery commiseration ceremony at the slavery exhibit at the President’s House site at Philadelphia’s Independence Mall. Krasner said he looked forward to having a keepsake from the event.

“I’m gonna have a paperweight sitting on my desk,” Krasner said. “You know what that paperweight is gonna be? It’s gonna be a piece of a ballroom after we all blow it up. That’s what it’s gonna be.”
Krasner also asserted that the ballroom’s destruction would be done in “an official ceremony.”
“Just so we’re clear, in an official ceremony, we’re gonna blow it up, and we’re going to give the taxpayers their money back by selling old pieces as paper weights,” Krasner said. “And I will have one on my desk.”
Several attendees enjoyed Krasner’s rhetoric and applauded him. At least one could be heard shouting that they “wanted a piece” of the ballroom after it was blown up. Not everyone was as enthusiastic, however. Philadelphia resident Lindy Li, a political strategist and author of the upcoming book, Unburdened, objected to Krasner’s words.
“Krasner is one of the single biggest disgraces from my beloved city,” Li told the Washington Examiner. “On behalf of my fellow America-loving Philadelphians, I’d like to apologize to the rest of our country for our shameful DA.”
Krasner brought up the ballroom while talking about the slavery exhibit, even though the ballroom is in Washington, D.C., and the slavery exhibit is in Philadelphia. The slavery exhibit has been mired in controversy in recent months due to the Trump administration ordering the removal of the site’s original panels as part of Trump’s executive order, “Restoring Truth and Sanity to American History.” Multiple lawsuits were filed to prevent the removal. After months of back-and-forth, the courts ruled that the Trump administration was permitted to remove the original panels and replace them. New panels at the site were installed in July.
Krasner addressed this and said that the original panels would eventually be returned after “they had won.” He asserted that the slavery exhibit would remain for as long as “as long as this federal park is here.”
It is worth noting that the slavery exhibit at the President’s House in Philadelphia is not connected in any way to the White House ballroom. They are separate structures, separate entities, and in different cities. However, Krasner linked the two and promised that, in the future, the slavery exhibit at the President’s House would remain, while the ballroom would not. He also promised that the Kennedy Center bearing Trump’s name would not exist either.

“I want you to think forward because there’s a beautiful time coming,” Krasner said. “This memorial will be here. The educational content will be here. People will be coming to see it not for a year or two, or not even 20 years. They will be coming to see it as long as this federal park is here.”
“But let me tell you what will not be here,” Krasner said earlier in the press conference before mentioning about blowing the ballroom up. “There will not be a ballroom. There will not be a Kennedy Center renamed for a fool. That will not be happening.
Fool was just one of the words Krasner used to describe President Donald Trump on Tuesday. He also called the president a “pain in the a**” and the “embodiment of hate, the embodiment of ignorance, and the embodiment of depriving people of their vote and education.”
