The Guns Used in Dollar General Shooting in Jacksonville Had Disturbing Markings
On Saturday afternoon, a tragic incident unfolded at a Dollar General store in Jacksonville, Florida. A yet-to-be-identified gunman entered the store and took the lives of three innocent people before ultimately ending his own life.
Sheriff T.K. Waters revealed that the weapons used in the shooting were a Glock and an AR-15-style rifle, both of which had disturbing markings, including swastikas and other writings.

The gunman acted alone and did not appear to be affiliated with any larger group, according to Sheriff Waters. Prior to the shooting, he had sent manifestos detailing his motivations to his family, law enforcement, and the media. Unfortunately, by the time his family reached out to the police, the tragic events were already unfolding.
The manifestos revealed the shooter’s disgusting ideology of hate, which was racially motivated and targeted black people, as stated by Sheriff Waters.
The shooter had a previous record, including a domestic incident in 2016 that did not result in an arrest. In 2017, he was committed to an institution under the state’s Baker Act, which allows for involuntary institutionalization of individuals deemed dangerous to themselves or others for 72 hours.
Mayor Donna Deegan of Jacksonville noted that the gunman’s writings indicated his awareness of a shooting that occurred five years prior to the date of the incident. This suggests that he may have deliberately chosen the date for his attack.
Sheriff Waters emphasized his commitment to transparency and stated that the manifestos would be released to the public.
What happened in Jacksonville is tragic.
What’s also tragic is that people have a knee-jerk reaction to make it about politics instead of the actual root causes.https://t.co/3ceNaIbFEQ

Prior to the shooting, the gunman had been on the campus of Edward Waters University, a historically black college located nearby. Sheriff Waters revealed that the gunman took the opportunity to put on a bulletproof vest and a mask before proceeding to the store to carry out his horrific act.
