Piers Morgan mocks Meghan Markle in speech: ‘Her impact on my career…’

British television host Piers Morgan thanks Meghan Markle for his career boost

During the Television and Radio Industries Club ceremony in London, Piers Morgan, host of “Piers Morgan: Uncensored,” graciously acknowledged Meghan Markle for her contribution to his career. Morgan, who won the Interview of the Year prize for his one-on-one chat with soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo, took a moment to express his gratitude to Markle.

In his acceptance speech, Morgan humorously stated, “I want to thank Meghan Markle because, if you think about it, without her contribution to my career I would never have gone to TalkTV. I would never have been standing here with this award.”

Morgan’s reference to Markle stems from his controversial departure from his previous position as a host on ITV’s “Good Morning Britain.” Following a heated on-air debate with weatherman Alex Beresford over Markle and Prince Harry’s interview with Oprah Winfrey, Morgan left the show. Beresford defended Markle, suggesting that Morgan’s personal history with her influenced his negative views on her comments.

Responding to Beresford’s remarks, Morgan walked off the set, stating, “OK, I’m done with this. Sorry. You can trash me, mate, but not on my own show. See you later.” The following day, Morgan officially resigned from the show, leading to his move to TalkTV.
