Planned Parenthood Pennsylvania Aims For Local School Boards
Planned Parenthood is intensifying its involvement in Pennsylvania politics by targeting school board elections wiht endorsements adn financial support for candidates. This initiative aims too influence educational policies and broaden its agenda among younger students, moving beyond its conventional services. Planned Parenthood seeks to promote its version of sexual education while sidelining parental involvement, and it advocates for LGBT support groups and gender-affirming care for children. The organization is established as a critically important donor to Democratic candidates in the state, indicating its strong grip on local politics.
Planned Parenthood continues to aggressively infiltrate Pennsylvania politics, now aiming its deep-pocketed clout at school board races.
In a webinar soon after the Nov. 5 election, Planned Parenthood officials said that “they plan to endorse and fund candidates for school board in Pennsylvania’s upcoming local elections,” Delaware Valley Journal News Linda Stein reported in a Jan. 6 piece.
It means Planned Parenthood will continue advancing its agenda to the youngest minds in public school. The move goes well beyond Planned Parenthood’s hallmark service, normalizing mothers killing their unborn babies through chemical and dismemberment abortions. Planned Parenthood promotes sexual education done in the time and manner it deems best, cutting parents out of the process. It offers support groups to the LGBT community for kids starting at age 10. It promotes the lie that children can change their “gender” and provides powerful hormones for those who want to try.
Planned Parenthood already has a tight grip on Pennsylvania politics. It is well established as a major campaign donor to Democrat candidates.
On his third day in office, Gov. Josh Shapiro met with the leaders of each Planned Parenthood affiliate in the state for a conversation on expanding abortion access, according to a press release at the time.
The voice of Planned Parenthood is in the governor’s office daily. Lindsey Mauldin, Shapiro’s deputy chief of staff for health and human services, was previously employed by Planned Parenthood.
Shapiro launched a state website for women seeking to abort their babies, complete with advice on how to get funding for their baby’s death. Of course, it leads to Planned Parenthood and its partners.
The conservative group Moms for Liberty has had success getting its members on school boards across Pennsylvania. Many have fought against smutty books in school libraries that describe sexual acts and are described as not age-appropriate for school children.
Tina Descovich, a former school board member and co-founder of Moms for Liberty, told the Delaware Valley Journal, “The reason Planned Parenthood wants to endorse candidates is because they’ve been pushing radical gender ideology and comprehensive sex education. It’s profitable for them to put it in the classrooms and for schools to spend money on curriculum to put that into classrooms. I think it’s absurd that Planned Parenthood is endorsing school board candidates, and I think people will outright reject candidates that are endorsed by Planned Parenthood.”
Planned Parenthood wants the public to get comfortable with violating the greatest taboo, that against killing children.
“Abortion is a normal and essential element in the full range of sexual and reproductive healthcare,” Dayle Steinberg, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood Southeastern Pennsylvania wrote in a fall 2024 newsletter. “But the culture of shame and silence that targets abortion causes stigma. Our opposition consistently tries to weaponize this.” The newsletter says it is working to expand abortion and so-called “gender affirming care.” It has an entire section for “professional development programs for educators.”
In the 2023-2024 school year, this one branch, Planned Parenthood Southeastern Pennsylvania, “created 16 new 90-minute workshops and presented them to over 600 teachers,” the newsletter says. The newsletter continues:
Just like our programs for youth, our professional development is focused on providing accurate, stigma-free information in settings where participants can explore their attitudes and assumptions.
We are glad to be continuing our work with the School District of Philadelphia in the current school year. We will again provide programs that prepare educators to deliver sex education in a trauma-informed, inclusive, and age-appropriate manner. Workshops will include:
- Gender Affirming Care for Youth 101: Debunking Myths
- How to Answer Difficult Questions and Have Hard Conversations
- Digital Decision Making, Media Literacy, & Safety
Nonprofit tax exempt forms for 2022 show Planned Parenthood Southeastern Pennsylvania had $21 million in gross receipts; Planned Parenthood Pennsylvania Advocates had $1.3 million; Planned Parenthood of Western Pennsylvania had $9.3 million; and Planned Parenthood Keystone had $18.9 million.
