Police Forced To Shoot Zebra In Ohio After It Nearly Rips Man’s Arm Off, Moves In On Deputy
After a zebra nearly tore off a man’s arm on his Ohio farm property, law enforcement officers were forced to take out a zebra.
After Ronald Clifton, 72, reported that he was attacked by an animal, Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office officers received the call at 5:30 p.m. Sunday.
The operator was stunned and asked the man. “You got attacked by a what?!”
“Oh hell yes, I think he tore my arm off … send a chopper,” Clifton Answered. “Come before it gets me again!”
Deputies arrived on the scene to find a herd zebras. One deputy parked his vehicle between the victim, and the zebra.
“One of the zebra actually went up to our deputy, the first one that was on scene, and poked his head towards the driver’s side of his car and his window,” Jonathan Strawser is Pickaway County Sheriff. “The deputy had to hit the air horn to get the zebra to go away.”
While Clifton was being attended to by first responders, deputies kept their guns drawn and watched as the animal walked around nearby.
The video shows that the zebra began to walk towards one of the deputy’s cars. He warned the animal to slow down and then opened fire from a distance of 15-20 feet. The deputy was only a few feet away when the zebra fell to his death.
“I had to make a decision,” Sgt. Stacey Eitel comments in the clip. “I put a slug right between its eyes.”
Eitel stated later in the video, “I ain’t going to let no one else get hurt. It wasn’t going to stop. It kept coming.”
ABC News reported Eitel stated in his report, that the male Zebra he had to kill was “protective of about five or six female zebras that were in the field at this location upon our arrival.”
