Law enforcement officials in Utah are searching for a transgender suspect after two people were found murdered in their home this week.

Just after 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Washington City Police were called about shots fired in a local neighborhood, police said in a statement.

“Washington City Police Officers arrived on scene and entered the residence through the front door,” the report said. “Upon entry into the home, two deceased adults (one female and one male) were located inside from apparent gunshot wounds. Officers on scene attempted life saving efforts on the two victims but efforts were unsuccessful. Upon searching the home further, no other victims and no suspects were located. From the initial investigation, it was apparent a double homicide had occurred.”

Police said that they identified a single suspect in the case, Collin Troy Bailey, who they described as a “transgender male transitioning to a female and currently goes by the name of Mia Bailey.”

Police said he is white, 5’10” tall, weighs 130 pounds, and has brown hair. They noted that he wears “wigs and is known to change hairstyles frequently.”

He was seen leaving the area in a yellow 2014 Kia Sol with Utah License Plate U069GF.

Police said that his current whereabouts are unknown and he is “considered armed and dangerous”. Police said the public should not approach him if they spot him and should instead contact law enforcement.

Law enforcement said that they do not believe there are currently any threats to the general public, even though they suspect he may still be in the area.

Police did not say what the relationship was between the suspect and those in the home who were murdered.

“The Washington City Police Department sends our heartfelt condolences to the victim’s family in this horrific tragedy,” the statement concluded. “We also want to thank all those who assisted with this incident, which is Washington County Sheriff’s Office, St George City Police Department, Utah Highway Patrol, Washington County Attorney’s Office, and local citizens on scene.”
