Poll: Americans Expect More Economic Despair in 2023
According to Gallup, a majority of Americans believe that 2023 will bring greater economic problems such as increased taxes and high inflation.
Eight in 10 respondents believe The federal deficit will cause taxes to rise, and two-thirds believe prices will rise. Stock markets will continue to plummet.

The negative American views of the economy have reduced President Joe Biden’s approval rating. He has been criticized for his record-high levels of inflation and excessive deficit spending. Majorities of Democrats see five positive developments in 2023. These include full employment (69%), an increase in prices (53%), a rising market (53%), and an increase in U.S. strength (56%) as well as a decrease of Russian power (79%).
Democrats are less likely to predict political cooperation (13%), and peace mostly free from international disputes (21%).
61% of independents and 47% among Republicans believe that Russian power will decrease in the future.
Except for the 36% who expect few strikes by labor unions in the next year, only 23% of Republicans anticipate a positive outcome in any of the 11 other dimensions.
