A recent Gallup poll has revealed that Americans’ confidence in the military has reached its lowest point since 1997.

According to⁢ the poll, only 60⁣ percent⁤ of Americans currently have confidence in the military, marking⁤ a significant decline over the ‌past 25 years. This decline in confidence cuts across political lines, with Republicans experiencing‍ a drastic drop of ⁢over 20 points in the last three years. Democrats’ confidence has⁤ decreased by 6 points in the past year, while independents have seen‍ a sharp decline of 13 points since 2020.

These findings come in the wake⁢ of warnings from a⁢ panel of military veterans ‌who testified before Congress, expressing concerns about the Biden⁢ administration’s focus on ‍”woke” measures. The Washington Free Beacon reported that these measures ⁢have contributed to a “once-in-a-generation military recruitment ‍crisis.”

In March, retired Army captain Jeremy Hunt ‌and other experts highlighted the impact of the administration’s emphasis on “Diversity, ‌Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) ‍training.” They pointed out that the Army fell “a historic 15,000 soldiers short ⁤of its recruitment ‌goal” due to the mandatory completion of “11-week resident DEI‌ training classes.” Meanwhile, the Chinese military continues ⁢to grow, ⁣and the Russian military is engaged in conflict with Ukraine.

Hunt emphasized⁢ that these “woke” initiatives‌ have left the military‍ “unfocused, untrained, unmanned, ‍and unprepared for‌ combat.”

During a congressional⁤ hearing, ⁤Navy⁤ veteran and Heritage ⁤Foundation‌ senior research fellow⁢ Brent Sadler revealed that the Pentagon has invested approximately $114 million into DEI programs.⁢ Sadler argued that these⁢ programs have had a “corrosive impact” and have contributed to the decline in public ‌faith⁢ in the military.

Gallup’s research also indicates that confidence in other institutions, such as the⁤ Supreme Court and the presidency, ⁣has reached historically low‍ levels, with only 27 percent and 26 percent of Americans expressing confidence in these ⁣respective⁢ institutions.
