Powerball Delays $1.9 Billion Drawing
The Powerball lottery for what has now reached a record-breaking $1.9 billion purse is being delayed because one state needed extra time to process ticket sales.
Powerball cited technical issues, but did not name the state.
“The draw is still set to go ahead as soon as the necessary security protocols have been completed,” Powerball said late Monday evening.
Nobody has won the Powerball lottery over the past 40 drawings, since August 3, allowing the jackpot to continue growing. Tickets are sold in 45 states, D.C., Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
The cash option for the latest jackpot is $929.1 million or the winner could take payouts over 29 years.
The jackpot could still grow if more tickets were sold than expected.
The official results can be viewed on Powerball’s Winning Numbers webpage.
