American woman seeks prayers as she hides from Hamas attack near Gaza.
An American Woman’s Terrifying Experience Near Gaza
Adele Raemer, a 68-year-old American woman living near Gaza, recently shared her harrowing experience of hiding in a “safe room” in her own home. She anxiously awaited the arrival of the Israeli Defense Forces to assist with a safe evacuation.
Originally from the Bronx, Raemer moved to Israel in 1975 after retiring from her job as an English teacher. She now works as a hospital clown, bringing joy to sick children.
As the hours passed, Raemer’s social media posts shifted from cheerful to fearful. She described the unprecedented attack on Israel, with an overwhelming number of rockets being fired simultaneously, putting immense pressure on the Iron Dome defense system.
“I’m in my safe room with my son. We locked the doors and can’t go outside, and I have to say this is very scary. I’ve never been this scared in my life,” she shared.
“Terrorists have infiltrated into Israel, and that’s in addition to the massive rocket attacks. If you’re the praying type, pray for us.”
Raemer’s fear was so intense that she hesitated to leave the safe room even to use the bathroom. She limited her water intake to avoid the need for such a trip. She could hear the Hamas terrorists searching door to door for Israelis. She even refrained from turning on the air conditioning, fearing that the noise would give away their presence.
Fortunately, Raemer was eventually evacuated, as she later shared in a Facebook post.
“Soldiers are going house to house, ensuring there are no terrorists, and then calling for people inside to come out. We were taken to a safe central place, guarded by our members with guns, and are awaiting further instructions,” she explained.
“I left with only the dress I’m wearing, my purse, and my sleeping pills. This situation is completely unprecedented. We have always been able to at least pack a bag. I haven’t even had a chance to brush my teeth or clean my face. We have casualties here, but I don’t have the details. That will have to wait. There is only so much I can handle at once.”
In addition to expressing her own fears and experiences, Raemer also voiced her concern for the Palestinian citizens who she believes are being manipulated by their leaders.
“They educate their younger generation to hate us and teach them to chant about having Palestine from the River to the sea,” Raemer passionately stated. “Do you understand what that means? It means no Jews. It means slaughtering us all, like they tried to do today. Like they tried to do to my three grandchildren who were saved by their very brave father.”
Raemer firmly believes that the current situation is an invasion by a terrorist army into a sovereign state. She refuses to apologize for any military actions taken by the Israeli Defense Forces to restore safety to their lives.
How is the international community responding to the situation near Gaza and what actions are being advocated for?
Ou think about it, there are 2 million people here. Then imagine an airplane landing at Ben Gurion airport, right on the tips of Tel Aviv, damaging it and causing chaos,” she added.
Raemer’s firsthand account of the situation near Gaza sheds light on the fear and uncertainty that many Israelis are currently experiencing. The constant threat of rocket attacks and infiltrations from terrorists has created a hostile environment, where the safety of innocent civilians is constantly at risk.
The violence and tension in the area have escalated in recent weeks. Hamas, the militant group in control of the Gaza Strip, has been launching rockets towards Israeli cities and towns, targeting civilian populations indiscriminately. Meanwhile, Israel has responded with airstrikes on Gaza, targeting Hamas-controlled facilities and infrastructure.
The situation near Gaza has evoked international concern, with many world leaders calling for an immediate ceasefire and a de-escalation of the violence. The United States, in particular, has expressed its support for Israel’s right to defend itself, while also advocating for a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
Adele Raemer’s terrifying experience is just one example of the countless stories of hardship and trauma endured by those living in the region. Families are forced to constantly live in fear, unsure of when the next attack may occur. The psychological toll on individuals, especially children, cannot be underestimated.
Raemer’s commitment to bringing joy to sick children as a hospital clown is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit. Despite the fear and uncertainty, she continues to find ways to bring happiness to others, reminding us all of the power of compassion and hope.
The importance of finding a peaceful resolution to the conflict cannot be emphasized enough. Innocent lives are being lost, families are being torn apart, and communities are being devastated. It is imperative for world leaders to come together and work towards a lasting peace in the region.
While the situation near Gaza remains tense, it is essential that each of us lends our support in whatever way we can. Whether it be through raising awareness, advocating for peaceful solutions, or providing assistance to those affected, we must all contribute to creating a better future for the people of Israel and Gaza.
Adele Raemer’s terrifying experience serves as a reminder of the human cost of conflict. It is our duty as global citizens to strive for peace and justice, no matter the challenges we face.
