According to President Trump, there would be “irreparable damage” to the GOP if Senate Democrats end the filibuster.
In an interview with media personality Lisa Boothe Monday, the 45th president said Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has been weak on leadership and has not fought hard enough to reign his party when defending the filibuster.
“We need better than Mitch McConnell and this is big stuff…now they’re going to knock out the filibuster…its going to be a big problem,” stated President Trump. “And if they do that, it’s going to be a free-for-all.
His comments follow earlier criticisms in which he suggested McConnell isn’t good for the Republican Party.
