‘Pro-Science’ Biden Is Vaccinated, But Still Wears Mask Outdoors: ‘It’s A Patriotic Responsibility For God’s Sake!’

President Joe Biden, who is fully vaccinated but still wears a mask outdoors, argued Friday that it is the “patriotic responsibility” of Americans to mask-up despite loosened Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance.

Biden was asked during an interview with TODAY if he’s going to “shed” his mask outdoors, in accordance with the new recommendations.

“Sure,” Biden responded. “But what I’m gonna do, though, because the likelihood of my being outside and people not coming up to me is not very high.”

“So, it’s like, look, you and I took our masks off when I came in, because look at the distance we are,” he told host Craig Melvin. “But if we in fact were sitting there talking to one another close, I’d have my mask on, and I’d bet you’d have your mask on even though we’ve both been vaccinated.”

“It’s a small precaution to take that has a profound impact. It’s a patriotic responsibility for God’s sake,” POTUS claimed. “It’s making sure that your wife, your children, — if in fact they haven’t been vaccinated — making sure that they’re not going to get sick.”

Daily Wire Emeritus Ben Shapiro blasted Biden’s comments on Friday morning: “What he is saying here is actual bats*** anti-scientific lunacy,” Shapiro emphasized. “It is not ‘patriotic’ to mask fully vaccinated next to another fully vaccinated human. It’s absurd. There is literally no scientific data to support it. None.”

The CDC announced new guidelines on Tuesday for vaccinated and unvaccinated Americans, which included the recommendation that vaccinated people shed their masks outdoors unless in a crowded area. The Daily Wire reported on the changes:

According to the CDC, fully vaccinated Americans no longer need to wear masks while outdoors, unless they are in a crowded area. In addition to these new guidelines, unvaccinated Americans can also stop wearing masks outside in certain situations.

The latest CDC guidelines state that those who have been fully vaccinated can now:

• gather indoors with fully vaccinated people without wearing a mask or staying 6 feet apart.
• gather indoors with unvaccinated people of any age from one other household (for example, visiting with relatives who all live together) without masks or staying 6 feet apart, unless any of those people or anyone they live with has an increased risk for severe illness from COVID-19.
• gather or conduct activities outdoors without wearing a mask except in certain crowded settings and venues.

In addition, the CDC added that “If you travel in the United States, you do not need to get tested before or after travel or self-quarantine after travel.”

Biden wore a mask to enter the House Chamber on Wednesday before giving a joint session to Congress. The Daily Wire reported:

As Biden entered the House Chamber, he wore a mask. Members of Congress wore masks and were socially-distanced during the speech. Vice President Kamala Harris and Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) wore masks throughout Biden’s speech. President Biden is fully vaccinated, and Harris and Pelosi have both received the COVID-19 vaccine. Many members of Congress have received the vaccination against the virus, as well. They were socially-distanced and wore masks as if they were at risk of spreading the virus, even though the CDC guidance suggests that once someone is vaccinated, they are highly unlikely to be infected with the virus since they are not required to quarantine upon exposure.
