Dana Perino slams White House for dodging important questions
Fox News Anchor Dana Perino Criticizes President Biden and White House Staffers for Dodging Questions
In a scathing critique, Fox News anchor Dana Perino slammed President Joe Biden and his White House staffers for their evasive tactics when faced with pressing questions from the press and the American people.
Perino, co-host of “America’s Newsroom” alongside Bill Hemmer, expressed her frustration while reacting to a clip of President Biden departing the White House on Marine One. Despite the noise of the helicopter, Biden briefly answered a few questions, including one about the chaotic situation at the southern border.
“I’ve done all I can do,” Biden responded, claiming that he lacked the authority to take action without a bipartisan deal from Congress. He pleaded for the power to address the border crisis effectively.

Perino didn’t hold back in her reaction, exclaiming, “That’s terrible to me. That’s terrible!”
She criticized the White House communications office for not providing a better platform for Biden to make news and answer questions. Perino argued that if the president’s responses were clear and coherent, there would be fewer doubts about his mental capacity.
As someone who previously served as White House Press Secretary under former President George W. Bush, Perino found it professionally insulting that the current administration believed this level of communication was sufficient. She cited an incident where Biden answered an important question about fallen troops at a coffee shop, but his response was drowned out by background noise.

Biden has faced ongoing criticism for his lack of regular press conferences and his reliance on notes and cheat sheets to navigate interactions with reporters. Despite her frustration, Perino expressed willingness to give Biden another chance, inviting him to appear on her show for a thorough questioning.
According to Dana Perino, what power does the President have to address the border crisis without a bipartisan deal from Congress?

Taking issue with Biden’s response, Perino argued that he and his staff are intentionally avoiding accountability by using a lack of authority as an excuse.
“I think that is a complete dodge,” she stated firmly. “We learned from ‘House of Cards’ over the years – probably not a lot of it was factual, but it certainly was based on a lot of things that could possibly happen – and they taught us that the presidency is powerful.”
Perino went on to criticize the Biden administration’s tactic of deflecting responsibility onto Congress, stating that it is within the President’s power to put pressure on lawmakers to address the border crisis, rather than simply blaming them for inaction.
“If you are the President, you basically get to set the agenda,” Perino said. “And so, they might say, ’Well, we can’t pass any legislation,’ but there are things that they can do by executive order or by executive directive to get some things done or at least signal that they are trying.”
This is not the first time Perino has called out President Biden and his staff for their evasiveness on pressing issues. Earlier this month, she criticized White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki for her seemingly rehearsed responses and for not engaging in substantive dialogue during press briefings.
Perino’s critique comes at a time when the Biden administration is facing increasing criticism for its handling of the border crisis and other pressing issues, such as inflation and rising gas prices. Many Republicans have accused the President of neglecting his duties and failing to provide adequate solutions.
As a prominent Fox News anchor, Perino’s critique carries weight in the conservative media landscape, where Fox News is known for its right-leaning perspective. However, it is essential to note that Fox News’s coverage and commentary have been subject to criticism for its alleged biases and pursuit of sensationalism.
Regardless of one’s political stance, the issue of government transparency and accountability is of vital importance. It is the responsibility of journalists and media organizations to hold public officials, including the President and his staff, accountable for their actions and statements. While constructive criticism is necessary for a robust democracy, it is equally important to consider diverse perspectives and seek objective and factual information to form a well-rounded opinion.
Dana Perino’s critique serves as a reminder that the press plays a crucial role in upholding accountability and transparency in government. It is through rigorous questioning and scrutiny that the American people can make informed decisions and hold their elected officials to a higher standard.
