Professor Banned For Calling Out Racism At Christian University Negotiates His Return
Dr. Greg Schulz has been gone for more than a whole year. Immediately suspended Concordia University Wisconsin was suspended for publicly opposing the board of regents’ inclusion of racial prejudices in its criteria for a president. Interim president Dr. William Cario suspended Schulz, a tenured philosopher, on Saturday, February 19, 2022. He also banned Schulz from the campus and his university email immediately, according to Legal documentation.
“The issue is not my personality, it was not some clash with people and their feelings. This is a doctrinal issue,” Schulz spoke in a phone interview. The Bible and the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synology (LCMS) prohibit racial partiality. This denomination appoints regents for Concordia’s 18-member board.
“I think a lot of the wokeness depends on us being cowardly and inclined to be quiet for the sake of temporary peace,” Schulz said.
The LCMS, one of the few large U.S. evangelical churches, still practices traditional Christianity. It has approximately 1.8 million members in the United States and affiliations with other biblically faithful Lutheran churches around the globe.
Campus freedom of speech advocates called Schulz’s sudden suspension without any opportunity to even hear the complaint against Schulz “an unacceptable departure from [the university’s] commitment to due process.” It was also against his contract and university policy. Noted Aaron Terr, a lawyer from the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education.
The board of regents suspended Schulz instead of reinstituting him immediately after learning of these violations. Matthew Harrison, President of LCMS, rebuked CUW last may for including “equity” And “diversity” Last August, the regents adopted a dispute resolution process in their criteria for a new president. This was something that had never been used before in the LCMS, according to a regent who spoke on condition of anonymity to The Federalist. This has led to Schulz’s reinstatement and the execution by the university of Harrison’s demand for the university to publicly repent for its support of sexism, racism and homophobia.
Schulz spoke Monday to The Federalist about Schulz’s talks with Erik Ankerberg, newly appointed president of the CUW. Schulz said that Schulz was in discussions with Ankerberg regarding the university’s recent offer for Schulz to return to the classroom. He expressed his desire to see his students again, but he also wants to make written promises to the university that they would not treat him or other professors as he was last summer.
“A necessary ingredient would be a genuinely secure guarantee of academic freedom,” Schulz said.
Decades of unrepented help for heresy
Schulz stated that another key commitment would be a public repudiation for racism being tolerated under the guise of buzzwords like “diversity,” “equity,” “inclusion,” And “anti-racism” That does not allow for discrimination based on a person’s skin color or ancestry. In May last year, Concordia was urged by the leader of the denomination to do this. It has not happened.
“If they don’t abide by woke-ism, why don’t they say so?” Schulz asked.
Concordia Wisconsin maintains a Black Student Union amid Schulz’s suspension Additional A Hispanic Student Union. Accreditation agency for Concordia Requires Its “processes and activities demonstrate inclusive and equitable treatment of diverse populations.”
