Prosecutors to pursue Hunter Biden’s indictment for felony gun offense.

President Joe Biden’s son may be⁤ facing serious legal trouble. U.S. prosecutors have filed a new document suggesting that Hunter Biden could be charged with ⁣a felony gun crime.

In a filing on ⁢September 6, special counsel David ‍Weiss’s team stated their intention to seek an indictment from a grand jury before​ September 29, 2023.

“The Speedy Trial Act requires that the ​Government⁤ obtain the return of an indictment by a grand jury by ‌Friday, ⁤September 29, 2023, at the earliest. The Government‌ intends to‍ seek the return of an indictment in this case before that ​date,” Mr. Weiss’s team told a federal court in Delaware.

According to prosecutors, Hunter Biden, 50, allegedly possessed⁣ a firearm in October 2018 while being addicted to an illegal drug, which is a violation of ⁣federal law.

Initially, a pretrial ⁣diversion agreement ‍was proposed, but it has since fallen apart.

If convicted, Hunter Biden could face up‌ to 10 years in prison.

Deal

Mr.⁢ Biden was charged ‍with the felony count on June 20.

On the same day, it​ was‌ announced⁤ that he ⁣had agreed‌ to ​plead guilty to separate tax ⁢charges and enter a ‌pretrial diversion agreement for the ‍firearm charge.

However, during a hearing in the tax​ case, it was revealed that the diversion agreement included promises from prosecutors not to pursue additional charges. This led​ to Hunter ‍Biden pleading ⁢not guilty to the tax charges.

Prosecutors later claimed that the diversion ‍agreement was not in effect because it had not been signed‌ by the U.S. probation ⁣officer for Delaware, Margaret Bray.

Mr.‌ Weiss⁤ clarified in a previous filing⁤ that‌ since the agreement never‌ went into effect, none of its terms are binding on⁢ either ‌party.

Despite this, Hunter Biden’s ⁤representatives maintain that he intends to abide by the terms of the diversion agreement.

Agreement

The⁤ agreement‍ requires‌ Hunter Biden to comply with certain conditions, including a prohibition on purchasing or possessing a gun ⁢for 24 months.

In a statement accompanying the agreement, Mr. Biden admitted​ to using crack and powder‍ cocaine, starting in 2016 and ⁣becoming a habitual⁢ user the​ following ‍year.

He‌ used the drugs frequently and ‌regularly until May 2019.

In October 2018, Hunter Biden admitted to purchasing ⁢a firearm while falsely claiming on a federal ⁣form that ​he‍ was not a user of or addicted to illegal drugs.

He possessed the gun for a short period before discarding it in a trashcan outside a supermarket in Delaware.

President Biden has refrained from⁣ commenting on the investigation into‌ his ​son, stating that it is up to the Justice Department.

Tax Charges Dropped

After pleading ⁣not guilty ‍to intentionally not paying taxes, the parties⁣ attempted to negotiate a new deal but were unsuccessful.

Prosecutors then asked the judge to dismiss the charges, citing⁤ an inappropriate venue, and indicated their intention to file the charges elsewhere.
