Protest turns violent at TP USA event at UC Davis

Protesters tried to disrupt a Turning Point USA event (TP USA), Tuesday, by encircling the University of California Davis venue. This caused property damage and injured police officers.
To much controversy, Charlie Kirk, a Conservative personality, was hosted by the campus chapter of TP USA. Reports indicate that around 100 protesters clashed between law enforcement officers, students, and others. According to university police, the protesters attacked windows and hurled eggs at them. They also used pepper spray and blocked people from entering University Credit Union Center. Two people were also detained by the police after one officer was hurt.
“One officer sustained an injury when he was jumped on from behind and pushed to the ground, and two people were arrested and taken to Yolo County Jail for allegedly painting graffiti on an exterior wall of the University Credit Union Center, or UCUC, where the event was held,” Officials from UC Davis stated this.
According to attendees, UC Davis Chancellor Gary S. May addressed the TP USA group, via a prepared video, declaring his support for the LGBTQ community.
“UC Davis stands with our transgender and non-binary Aggies in opposition to this hateful and divisive messaging,” May.
RosalioAhumada, Sacramento Bee reporter, criticised Kirk in advance of the event. She claimed that Kirk had called to have the event. “lynching” trans-gendered persons.
“Charlie Kirk has called for the lynching of trans people, a comment that should warrant the cancelation of his speaking engagement at UC Davis,” Rosalio Ahumada tweeted.
According to the Sacramento Bee op-ed reporter, she called for the cancellation of the TP event. Kirk was also called out by her. “fascist speaker” in her article. Kirk tweeted that he did not call for such action and threatened the outlet with legal action.
Ahumada later deleted her tweet and apologized. “the language I used was not precise.” The Sacramento Bee updated the article to refer to Kirk later. “far-right” leader.
Elon Musk, CEO of Twitter, commented on the protest via Twitter and said “[This was} not a peaceful protest at all,” After seeing photos and videos from the protest, I was moved to share them on social media.
