Protesters gather nationwide against Trump on Presidents Day – Washington Examiner
On Presidents Day, protesters gathered in various cities across the United States, including Washington, D.C.,New York City,Chicago, and Los Angeles,to voice their opposition to President Donald Trump and his administration. The protests have intensified as demonstrators criticize proposed cuts to federal agencies, especially related to the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency, led by Elon Musk. In Washington, protesters expressed concerns about chaotic and harmful reforms, while in New York, the focus was on cuts to USAID, which they argued cripple humanitarian aid efforts globally. The protests, organized by the 50501 Movement under the theme “No Kings on Presidents Day,” attracted a wide range of participants unhappy with the direction of governmental policies and Musk’s involvement in those changes.

Protesters across the country gathered to express their opposition to President Donald Trump and his administration on Presidents Day.
Trump garnered protesters throughout his first term, but early into his second term in the White House, protesters have focused their criticisms on the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency and efforts to cut waste and the size of government. In Washington, D.C, New York City, Chicago, and Los Angeles, among other cities, demonstrators railed against the Trump administration.
In Washington, D.C., protesters gathered near the Capitol Building, with several demonstrators specifically taking issue with Trump’s proposed cuts to several federal agencies, along with the actions of DOGE head Elon Musk.
“I don’t know anyone who doesn’t believe in reform, whether it’s in international development, whether it’s civil service, or government, but the way it’s being done is chaotic and it’s cruel,” one former federal employee protesting in Washington told WUSA.
In New York City, protesters held a rally in Washington Square Park, with most also taking aim at both Trump and Musk over recent actions to cut government, including in federal agencies like USAID. One protesters told WABC that the cuts to USAID specifically were “very concerning” to her.
“Projects don’t know when they’re starting, and as a result there is HIV medicine in warehouses that is not getting distributed, there’s food from U.S. farmers that is not getting distributed as vital humanitarian aid around the world, so it’s very concerning to me,” protester Kristin Mullin told the outlet.
Protesters also gathered in various other cities, including Chicago, Los Angeles, Boston, and Orlando, for “No Kings on Presidents Day” protests which were largely organized by the 50501 Movement.
Musk’s efforts under the Trump White House to implement his DOGE cuts to waste in government have drawn criticism from the political left and lawsuits in various federal courts.
As Democrats continue to scrutinize Musk’s role in the White House, several on Capitol Hill have called for the billionaire to appear before Congress under oath, while Republicans have pushed back insisting Democrats would use that time to berate Musk.
