Sentencing hearings for Proud Boys, including their leader, delayed.
The Sentencing Hearings for Proud Boys Members Postponed
The highly anticipated sentencing hearings for several members of the Proud Boys, including their leader Enrique Tarrio, over their involvement in the Jan. 6 breach of the U.S. Capitol, have been suddenly postponed. The hearings were scheduled for Aug. 30 but have been rescheduled due to U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly’s illness.
The U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia has announced that the sentencing for Mr. Tarrio and his fellow Proud Boys member Ethan Nordean will now take place on Sept. 5 and Sept. 1, respectively.

The sentencing of Mr. Tarrio and Mr. Nordean was expected to result in decades-long prison terms for their roles in the Capitol breach during the certification of President Joe Biden’s electoral victory.
The Epoch Times has reached out to the Department of Justice for comment on the postponement.
The Department of Justice has requested Judge Kelly to sentence Mr. Tarrio to 33 years and Mr. Nordean to 27 years. Both individuals, along with their fellow Proud Boys members Joseph Biggs and Zachary Rehl, were convicted on multiple counts, including seditious conspiracy, in May after a four-month trial.
It is worth noting that Dominic Pezzola, the Proud Boys member seen smashing a riot shield into a Capitol window, was acquitted of the seditious conspiracy charge.
Norm Pattis, Mr. Tarrio’s representative, informed The Epoch Times that the sentencings for Mr. Biggs, Mr. Rehl, and Mr. Pezzola may also be postponed. Mr. Biggs and Mr. Rehl are scheduled for sentencing on Aug. 31, while Mr. Pezzola’s sentencing is set for Sept. 1.
The prosecutors are seeking prison terms of 33 years, 30 years, and 20 years for Mr. Biggs, Mr. Rehl, and Mr. Pezzola, respectively.
Currently, the longest sentence in the Jan. 6 cases is being served by Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes, who received 18 years in prison.
