Psaki argues Harris is ‘clear alternative’ should Biden quit race

Former White House press secretary Jen Psaki said Thursday that Vice President Kamala Harris is the “clear alternative” to replace President Joe Biden as the Democratic nominee for president.

“There’s lot of talking behind closed doors in right now in Washington and around the public,” Psaki said during an appearance on NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers. “For July Fourth, I would try to change the subject with my family and friends to other things, and it was, like, ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah, life is fine. What’s going to happen with this election?’”

Many residents across America are feeling this anxiety and excitement related to a possible replacement for Biden, and, according to Psaki, Harris could be that politician.

“She is the vice president, first of all. She could use all the money,” the former press secretary said. “She could take all the money from the campaign and campaign on it. I think she’s an undervalued communicator as well.”

“She would be the first African American woman to be a presidential candidate, which is a huge deal,” Psaki said.

Another thing helping the notion of a potential Harris-led ticket is a series of benefits that Democratic governors such as Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) cannot enjoy.

“It’s harder for them because they would have to inject themselves in and argue that they should skip over the vice president, that they can raise the same amount of money, that they can match the structural advantages,” Psaki said.
