Psaki slammed for critique of Trump’s ‘loyalist’ Cabinet picks: ‘No ability to look in the mirror’ – Washington Examiner
Jen Psaki, an MSNBC anchor, faces criticism for her remarks regarding President-elect Donald Trump’s Cabinet appointments, which she claims are composed of “loyalists.” Following Trump’s election victory, he announced several appointments, including Kristi Noem as Homeland Security secretary and Mike Waltz as national security adviser. Psaki expressed concern that this loyalty could undermine the presidency, labeling both Waltz and Rep. Elise Stefanik as unwavering supporters of Trump.
Her comments have since attracted ridicule on social media, with critics pointing out her previous role in the Biden administration. Other media figures, like CNN’s Kaitlin Collins, echoed Psaki’s sentiments, noting the intense lobbying for jobs among Trump’s Florida associates. The backlash on social platforms reflects a larger critique of Psaki and mainstream media perspectives on loyalty among political staff, with users suggesting a hypocrisy in her statements compared to Biden’s appointments. Additionally, Rachel Maddow from MSNBC also criticized Trump’s choices, linking them to attempts to challenge the 2020 election results.
Psaki slammed for critique of Trump’s ‘loyalist’ Cabinet picks: ‘No ability to look in the mirror’
MSNBC anchor Jen Psaki is under fire for critiquing President-elect Donald Trump‘s appointments to his future Cabinet.
Following Trump sweeping the Nov. 5 election, he began announcing who he is choosing to be a part of his next administration. Trump has named Gov. Kristi Noem (R-SD) as his Homeland Security secretary, Rep. Mike Waltz (R-FL) as his national security adviser, Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) as his U.N. ambassador, and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee to be his ambassador to Israel, with others on the horizon. Psaki suggested that this loyal Cabinet is not a good thing.
“Piece by piece, we are watching Trump hire a fiercely loyal staff that sees the presidency as all-powerful,” Psaki said on Inside with Jen Psaki. “Waltz is a Trump loyalist, an election denier. Elise Stefanik, she’s, of course, a moderate turned total MAGA loyalist.”
A subsequent clip of the segment circulated on social media to ridicule Psaki’s comments.
“Headline: ‘Woman on TV still carrying water for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris has no ability to look in the mirror,’” one user captioned the clip.
“Remember Biden hiring all that disloyal staff? Me neither,” another user wrote.
CNN anchor Kaitlin Collins echoed Psaki’s statements on her show Monday. She reported that Trump’s Florida residence at Mar-a-Lago has been “brimming for the last two days, I’m told, with two kinds of people: those angling for a job and those who are trying to influence Trump into hiring their picks.”
She particularly noted how often Tesla CEO Elon Musk has visited and the “influence” he has.
“Haha cry harder @kaitlancollins,” Libs of TikTok captioned the clip on X.
“She seems upset….” another user wrote. “That brings me so much joy!”
MSNBC anchor Rachel Maddow has similarly criticized Trump’s picks, noting that Walz once worked to overturn the 2020 election.
Musk endorsed Trump and even started a super PAC to support him. The entrepreneur was with Trump at Mar-a-Lago on election night.
So far, Trump’s Cabinet is shaping up to be completely different from his first term, down to his Vice President-elect, J.D. Vance. Legacy media has given Trump little credit for hiring his campaign co-chairwoman, Susie Wiles, as the first female chief of staff.
