Psaki warns ‘history books will remember’ if Romney, Bush, and Pence don’t endorse Harris

Former White House press secretary Jen Psaki pressured Republicans to endorse Kamala Harris over Donald Trump.

Harris has racked up endorsements as the election nears. Some key endorsements came after Biden dropped out of the race in July, leaving her a small window of opportunity to garner support.

Former Vice President Mike Pence, former President George W. Bush, and Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) were named in Psaki’s opinion editorial Saturday. The former Biden staffer turned MSNBC host called on the politicians to follow the lead of former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY), who staunchly opposed Trump while she was in the House and has since endorsed Harris.

“For Romney, Bush, Kelly and Pence, time is running out. If you don’t speak up loudly now, you may lose your chance. And the history books will remember,” Psaki wrote.

Cheney lost her reelection bid during the 2022 primaries following her participation in the January 6th Commission. The hearings from the now-defunct commission resulted in many criticisms of Trump.

“But with just over 30 days to go before the election, what are all the other anti-Trump Republicans waiting for?” Psaki wrote. “I am not saying it’s easy to go against your own political party. Cheney knows that well, having been essentially excommunicated after a lifetime of loyal service.”

Romney’s term in the Senate will end in 2025. The junior senator from Utah is not running for reelection in November and is retiring after one term.

Pence was Trump’s political opponent in the 2024 cycle, but since withdrawing from the race, he has yet to offer his own endorsement. He is the only former Republican candidate to not endorse Trump.
