Email’s alleged inventor places his hat in the Twitter CEO’s ring
The man who claims to have developed email is a formidable competitor if you want to succeed Elon Musk as CEO of Twitter.
Shiva Ayyadurai, the MIT-trained genius who is frequently credited with inventing electronic mail, tweeted on Saturday that he is interested in the position. Musk, who paid $44 billion for Twitter in October and has been operating it ever since, announced his resignation in response to a platform vote that appeared to show users wanted a new leader in place.
“Hello, Mr. Musk Ayyadurai tweeted, “I am interested in the CEO role @Twitter. I founded seven highly successful high-tech software companies and hold four MIT degrees. Please let me know how to apply. Sincerely, The Creator of Email is Dr. Shiva Ayyadurai, a PhD from MIT.

When Ayyadurai claimed the copyright for an application he built as a teenager in 1982, he asserts to have invented email. He filed lawsuits against Gawker and another website after they disputed his claim; both cases were settled out of court. Republican Ayyadurai, 59, has made two unsuccessful Senate bids in Massachusetts. He has called for the dismissal of Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, and has been a vocal opponent of the COVID vaccinations.
After 57.5% of respondents to a poll Musk commissioned on Twitter on December 18 decided that he should succeed himself, Musk made the announcement that he would step down. Musk has made a number of modifications to the website and has also made public internal emails from before he took over, which expose how Twitter collaborated with law enforcement, such as the FBI, to suppress conservatives.
After he chooses a new CEO, Musk indicated last week that he will concentrate on the company’s hardware and software.
As soon as I find someone foolish enough to accept the position, I will step down as CEO, he tweeted. “After that, I’ll merely be in charge of the servers and software teams.”
The high-profile job has sparked conjecture about prospective suitors, with some even speculating that Jack Dorsey, the co-founder of Twitter who resigned as CEO in November 2021, would come back.
Sheryl Sandberg, a former Facebook executive, Sriram Krishnan, an engineer and close friend of Elon Musk, and Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of the late President Trump, are some other names that have been offered.
Finding a CEO is not the issue; the issue is finding a CEO who can keep Twitter alive, Musk wrote in a tweet last week. Be careful what you wish for because you might get it, as the adage goes.
