‘Put It On Record’: Dodgers Manager Dave Roberts Guarantees 2022 World Series Ring

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts appears to be quite confident as he prepares his team for the 2022 Major League Baseball season.

On a Thursday appearance with Dan Patrick on “The Dan Patrick Show,” Roberts guaranteed a World Series ring for the upcoming season.

“The Dodgers will win the World Series if …” Patrick asked.

“We play a full season, and there is a postseason,” Roberts responded. “We are winning the World Series in 2022. But I know where you’re going with that. We are winning the World Series this year. Put it on record.”

“We are winning the World Series,” Roberts added. “That’s our focus, that’s our goal.”

According to Caesars Sportsbook, the Dodgers are currently the favorites to win the World Series, sitting at +500.

The Dodgers have been one of the best teams in baseball over the past decade, winning five of the last six NL West Division crowns with Roberts as manager. In 2020, he led LA to the organization’s first World Series title since 1988. In 2021, the Dodgers won 106 games before losing to the eventual World Series champions, the Atlanta Braves, in the NLCS.

On Thursday, Roberts went on to explain that his starting staff needed to stay healthy in order to achieve its goals, but never took back his guarantee of a World Series title.

“We are winning the World Series if our starting staff stays healthy,” Roberts continued. “I know that’s vague, but that’s my answer.”

Earlier in March, the Dodgers signed first baseball Freddie Freeman to a 6-year, $162 million contract, adding to their vaunted lineup. Freeman spent the first 12 years of his career in Atlanta, where he was a five-time NL All-Star, a Gold Glove winner, and the 2020 NL MVP. He’s a career .295 hitter.

He penned a letter to Braves fans, thanking them for their support.

“I don’t even know where to begin,” Freeman wrote. “For the past 15 years I got to be a part of your organization. It was truly an honor. We went through the very highs together and some lows but those lows is what made last year so special.”

“I gave everything I had day in and day out and I hope you guys saw that as well,” Freeman added. “Although our time has come to an end, I look forward to seeing and playing in front of you all again. When that times comes, I hope you remember all the wonderful memories we made together. I love you Braves Country! Champions Forever!”

After a 99-day work stoppage, the 2022 regular season is scheduled to begin on April 7.
