World leaders expressed sadness after the announcement of Queen Elizabeth II’s death on Thursday.

The royal family announced on social media that the queen had died peacefully on Thursday afternoon. Mere minutes after the news was announced, world leaders and politicians expressed their condolences over her death.

“We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished Sovereign and a much-loved Mother,” a statement from His Majesty The King read. “I know her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the Realms and the Commonwealth, and by countless people around the world.”

“Our thoughts and prayers will remain with the great people of the United Kingdom as you honor her most meaningful life and exceptional service to the people,” former President Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social. “May God bless the Queen, may she reign forever in our hearts, and may God hold her and Prince Philip in abiding care.”

Doctors expressed “concern” over the queen’s condition earlier Thursday after months of canceled public appearances due to her poor health.
