R Kelly Found Guilty on Child Pornography and Enticement Charges
On Wednesday, former singer R. Kelly stood before a federal jury in Chicago after being charged with thirteen charges related to child pornography, enticement, and conspiracy to obstruct justice.
He was found guilty on three counts of child pornography, and three counts of child enticement.
According to FOX News, 55-year-old Kelly was acquitted on a fourth pornography-related charge along with conspiracy to obstruct justice, which stemmed from accusations that he had intimidated and bribed the defendants in his 2008 trial.
Additionally, Kelly was found not guilty on all three counts of conspiring to receive child pornography and two other charges of enticement.
Prosecutor Jeannice Appenteng said in her closing remarks on Tuesday that based on the evidence, it was clear that “what R. Kelly wanted was to have sex with young girls.”
Appenteng’s statement came after jurors sat through sections of an “explicit video” depicting one of Kelly’s accusers, who said she was only fourteen at the time it was recorded.
In September 2021, Kelly was found guilty of racketeering in a sex-trafficking trial during which nearly fifty witnesses testified about events going back to the early 1990s.
He was subsequently sentenced to thirty years in prison.
