Radical attempts Alinsky’s tactics on Utah School Board, but Bible-supporting parents prevail.

A Victory for Bible-Backing Parents: Utah School District Reverses Bible Ban

In a surprising turn of events, a Utah school district has decided to reverse its controversial decision to ban the Bible from middle and elementary schools. This decision comes after facing strong opposition from the community.

The Davis School District initially made the decision to ban the Bible on May 22, citing concerns about the book’s content being inappropriate for younger children. However, after a review committee assessed the situation, they found that while the Bible did contain some violent and vulgar content, it still held significant value for minors.

The Bible in question was the King James Version, known for its use of 17th-century language, which can be challenging for modern readers to understand. It remains unclear if other versions of the Bible were affected by the temporary ban.

The ban request was filed by an unidentified member of the community, citing a recently passed law that allows parents to challenge sensitive instructional materials in public schools. The complaint accused the district of ceding children’s education, First Amendment rights, and library access to a group called Utah Parents United, which has been actively challenging inappropriate curriculum in schools.

Interestingly, left-leaning sites quickly picked up on the story, highlighting the fact that the Bible had been removed from schools using a law endorsed by Republicans. This move seemed to align with the tactics outlined in Saul Alinsky’s book, “Rules for Radicals,” which encourages activists to make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.

However, the parents who supported the presence of the Bible in schools ultimately prevailed. The district received 70 appeals, and after assessing community standards, the appeal committee determined that the Bible holds significant value for minors, outweighing its violent or vulgar content.

This victory for Bible-backing parents showcases the power of community engagement and the importance of considering diverse perspectives when making decisions that impact education.
