Ramaswamy stands firm on supporting Trump despite conviction.
GOP Candidate Vivek Ramaswamy Stands Firm on Support for Trump
GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy is making headlines with his unwavering support for former President Donald Trump. In a recent interview on ABC News’ “This Week,” Ramaswamy defended his stance, stating that he would vote for Trump even if he’s convicted and becomes the Republican presidential nominee.
When asked about the implications of having a convicted felon as president, referring to Trump’s ongoing legal battles, Ramaswamy dismissed the cases as “downright politicized persecutions.” He expressed concern about the potential erosion of democracy, stating, “I do not want to see us become a ‘banana republic’ where the administrative police state uses force to eliminate opponents from competition.”
“That’s not the way it works,” Ramaswamy emphasized.

Ramaswamy made it clear that his support for the Republican nominee is based on his belief in choosing the best candidate for the presidency. While he sees himself as a potential leader who can unite the country, he acknowledges that if he’s not the nominee, he expects Trump or whoever the Republican nominee is to be a better choice than the alternative.
Despite facing tough questions from ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, Ramaswamy remained resolute in his position. He stated, “If Donald Trump’s the nominee, yes, I will support him. And if I’m the president, yes, I will pardon him, because that will help reunite the country. But it’s not the most important thing I’m going to do as the next president.”
In recent days, Ramaswamy has experienced a surge in the polls following the first GOP debate. However, he also faced criticism from fellow Republican candidates during the event, particularly regarding his stances on Ukraine, Israel, and other topics.
President Trump currently faces multiple legal cases, both at the local and federal levels, with dozens of charges against him. He has pleaded not guilty to all of them, denouncing the investigations as politically motivated witch hunts aimed at sabotaging his chances of reelection.
In a recent post on Truth Social, Trump’s social media platform, he expressed his belief that he is being unjustly targeted by a “highly partisan and corrupt system of injustice.” Trump claimed that his opponent, who is allegedly losing in the polls, is behind these cases, which he believes are destroying the country.
Last week, Trump and his former lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, both pleaded not guilty to charges brought by the district attorney’s office in Fulton County, Georgia. Giuliani waived his right to appear at an arraignment hearing, joining Trump and several others in avoiding a courtroom spectacle.
Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis intends to try Trump, Giuliani, and 17 co-defendants together. However, legal battles have already begun, with numerous court filings since the indictment was filed on August 14.
As the political landscape continues to evolve, Ramaswamy’s unwavering support for Trump sets him apart from other candidates and sparks further debate about the role of a convicted felon in the presidency.
