Ramaswamy suggests Ted Cruz and Mike Lee for conservative SCOTUS justices.

Republican Presidential⁤ Hopeful‍ Vivek Ramaswamy Releases⁢ List of Potential Conservative Supreme ⁤Court Nominees

Republican presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy has taken⁤ a page out ⁤of former‍ President Donald ‍Trump’s playbook by releasing a⁢ list of‌ potential conservative Supreme ‌Court nominees. This move ⁣aims to engage his base and ‍generate ⁢support for his‍ campaign.

Ramaswamy,⁤ 37, has included notable contenders such as Senators Ted ⁢Cruz (R-TX) and Mike Lee (R-UT) as possible nominees for⁢ the⁤ nation’s highest court.⁣ He has also named federal judges ⁣who have made significant ⁣rulings ‍against President ⁣Joe Biden’s policies, including the airplane mask ‍mandate ‌and the FDA’s approval of the ⁤abortion pill⁣ mifepristone.

Mirroring Trump’s Strategy

This decision to release a list of potential nominees⁣ mirrors ‍Trump’s strategy in 2016, where⁤ he ‍unveiled ⁢his own list⁣ to rally his supporters. It‌ is worth noting that Trump’s ⁤original⁣ list included ‍Senator ⁣Lee, and he later expanded it in‍ 2020 to include Senators Cruz, Tom Cotton (R-AR), and Josh Hawley ‍(R-MO). ‍However, Cotton and Hawley ⁤are ‌not ‍included on Ramaswamy’s⁢ list.

“Our courts‌ remain the last line of defense against⁤ the overreach ⁣and weaponization of government. As‌ President, I will appoint‌ judges who will ⁢protect the‍ integrity of⁢ our ⁤constitutional Republic,” ‍stated Ramaswamy.

Ramaswamy,⁣ a venture capitalist and political ⁢outsider,‍ currently ranks fourth among potential Republican primary ⁢voters, ⁣according to⁤ the⁤ RealClearPolitics average of polls. This move comes after the Supreme Court, with its 6-3 Republican-appointed majority, overturned‍ Roe ⁣v. Wade in 2022, a significant victory for‌ anti-abortion conservatives.

In May, Governor Ron⁣ DeSantis‍ (R-FL), who is currently second⁣ to Trump ‌in the 2024 primary, proposed the⁣ idea of establishing a “7-2 conservative⁤ majority” on the high court if ‌elected⁣ president.⁤ He also expressed some dissatisfaction with‍ the perceived⁣ conservatism of the⁣ three justices appointed⁢ by Trump.

A Diverse⁤ Pool of Nominees

In addition to Senators ‌Cruz and Lee, Ramaswamy has⁢ named seven⁢ federal judges as potential nominees.⁣ This⁢ includes ⁤Judge James Ho ⁢from the U.S. Court of Appeals for⁢ the ⁢5th‍ Circuit, Judge Lawrence VanDyke ⁣from the 9th Circuit, Judge Lisa Branch from the‌ 11th Circuit,⁤ and Judge ⁣Matthew Kacsmaryk from the U.S. ⁢District⁤ Court. Notably, Judge Kacsmaryk recently ruled against⁤ the FDA’s ⁤approval of mifepristone.

It‌ is worth mentioning that Judges ⁣Ho and ‍Branch have expressed their⁣ opposition to “cancel culture”‍ at⁣ Yale and Stanford by refusing to hire clerks from these institutions. Interestingly, Ramaswamy himself holds a law⁤ degree from Yale.

Ramaswamy ⁣has‍ also included former⁣ Solicitor General ⁣Paul Clement, a highly experienced attorney ⁤who has⁤ argued⁢ over 100 cases⁤ before the Supreme ⁤Court. Clement will soon represent ‌fishing⁤ companies in a case⁣ that ‍seeks to limit the power of executive agencies.

Other individuals in Ramaswamy’s pool of ⁤potential⁤ nominees ⁢include Judges Martha Pacold, ‍Sarah Pitlyk, Kathryn Mizelle, and Brantley⁢ Starr from the U.S. District ‍Courts, as well as Stephen Alexander Vaden ⁣from the U.S. ⁢Court of International Trade and Ryan Holte⁤ from the U.S. Court of Federal Claims.

Overall, Ramaswamy’s⁤ release of potential⁢ conservative Supreme⁤ Court nominees aims⁣ to‍ energize his ⁢base‌ and ‌demonstrate his ⁤commitment to ‍upholding the principles of the constitutional ⁤Republic.
