Biotech Entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy Shines in First Presidential Debate
Biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy received a significant fundraising boost following the first presidential debate in Wisconsin. Since the debate, Ramaswamy has raised an impressive $450,000, with an average donation of $38, according to his spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin.
Despite the absence of former President Donald Trump, all eyes were on Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis at the first GOP debate. However, it was Ramaswamy who stole the show and took center stage with his strong performance on the national platform.

According to a Drudge Report poll on the winner of the first Republican debate, Ramaswamy led with an impressive 34 percent of the votes. Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley followed with 23 percent, while DeSantis and former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie received 18 percent and 16 percent, respectively.
In another poll conducted by Daily Mail, which surveyed 504 Republicans, 28 percent believed Ramaswamy had the best debate performance. DeSantis closely followed with 27 percent, former Vice President Mike Pence received 13 percent, Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) garnered 8 percent, and Haley received 7 percent.
Ramaswamy received praise for addressing the crisis of fatherlessness in the United States during the debate.
“The word ‘privilege’ gets used a lot,” Ramaswamy stated. “Well, you know what? I did have the ultimate privilege of having two parents in the house, with a focus on educational achievement, and I want every kid to experience that. So, part of the problem is that our federal government pays single women more not to have a man in the house than to have one, contributing to the epidemic of fatherlessness.”
He further emphasized, “And I believe this issue is closely tied to the education crisis because we must remember that education starts with the family, and the nuclear family is the greatest form of governance known to mankind.”
Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to commend Ramaswamy for his comments on climate change, stating that “[he] is right—more people are dying from climate change policies than from climate change itself.”
Ramaswamy also received praise from former President Donald Trump for his statement during the debate that “President Trump, I believe, was the best president of the 21st century. It’s a fact.”
Although Trump did not participate in the debate, he shared a video clip of Ramaswamy’s statements on his Truth Social account and expressed his gratitude, saying, “This answer gave Vivek Ramaswamy a big WIN in the debate because of a thing called TRUTH. Thank you Vivek!”
During the debate, Ramaswamy engaged in heated arguments with Haley regarding the Ukraine war. The biotech entrepreneur expressed his reluctance to support Ukraine in its conflict with Russia, stating that “Ukraine is not a priority for the United States of America” and “The real threat we face today is Communist China, and we are driving Russia further into China’s arms.”
In response, Haley criticized Ramaswamy for wanting to “hand Ukraine to Russia” and added, “You have no foreign policy experience, and it shows.”
As a political newcomer, Ramaswamy raised over $7.7 million in the second quarter, according to his Federal Election Commission (FEC) filing. He currently has approximately $9 million in cash on hand.
