Rodeo at Rancho Mission Viejo Closed Due to Livestock Virus
The Rancho Mission Viejo Rodeo Canceled Due to Livestock Virus
The highly anticipated Rancho Mission Viejo Rodeo in San Juan Capistrano has unfortunately been canceled, leaving rodeo enthusiasts disappointed. Rodeo officials made the difficult decision last week in light of the recent spread of a harmful virus affecting livestock in Southern California.
The rodeo was originally scheduled to take place on August 26 and 27, attracting participants and spectators from all over the region. However, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has reported over 100 cases of Vesicular Stomatitis in six counties, causing concern among organizers and participants.
What is Vesicular Stomatitis?
Vesicular Stomatitis is a viral disease that affects livestock, causing a range of symptoms including loss of appetite and lameness. The virus has been spreading rapidly throughout Southern California, posing a significant threat to the health and well-being of the animals.
Given the potential risks associated with the virus, rodeo officials have prioritized the safety and welfare of the livestock, as well as the attendees. While it is undoubtedly disappointing for all those involved, the cancellation is a necessary precaution to prevent further spread of the virus.
We understand the disappointment this news brings to the rodeo community, but the health and safety of the animals and participants must always come first. We hope to see the Rancho Mission Viejo Rodeo return next year, bigger and better than ever.
