Rand Paul blasts Bragg over Trump indictment, says ‘DA should be put in jail’

Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) didn’t hold back his strong criticism against the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office speculated indictment of former President Donald Trump.

Paul took to Twitter, stating that “A Trump indictment would be a disgusting abuse of power. The DA should be put in jail.”

Rumors have been circulating that Trump may face an indictment since he suggested in a Tweet that he “will be arrested on Tuesday.” This was followed by reports that the New York law enforcement was preparing for civil unrest over charges against him. At issue is a $130,000 hush money payment that Trump’s then-lawyer, Michael Cohen, wired to porn star Stormy Daniels (also known as Stephanie Gregory Clifford), in the 2016 election homestretch. The payment was meant to keep her silent about an alleged decade-old affair with Trump.

The prosecutors are investigating whether the Trump Organization falsified business records to conceal reimbursing Cohen for the payment. Reports suggest that prosecutors aim to bring a misdemeanor charge for record falsifications and add it to the federal campaign finance violation charge so that they can slap Trump with a felony charge. On Monday, a grand jury hearing the Trump case heard from a lawyer who claims to have contradicted significant portions of Cohen’s testimony.

Trump has refuted both the allegations of wrongdoing and having an affair with the porn star. He has urged his supporters to “protest and take back our nation.”

In a Truth Social post, he wrote, “There was no ‘misdemeanor’ here either. There was no crime, period. All other many Democrat law enforcement officers that looked at it, took a pass.
