Ray Epps ‘60 Minutes’ Interview Raises More Questions Than Answers
CBS News has come to the defense of Ray Epps, the Jan. 6 agitator, with a glossy profile on their flagship program “60 Minutes.” The New York Times also dismissed allegations that Epps was in covert cooperation with federal law enforcement. However, Epps’ apparent preferential treatment by law enforcement has contributed to speculation that he was an FBI informant who sought to provoke turmoil at the Capitol. While Epps ran to CBS to dispute any connection with the FBI, the interview raised more questions than answers. Epps’ evident effort to encourage rioters to storm the Capitol building makes the partisan Jan. 6 Committee’s defense of him even more suspicious. Despite this, CBS News and The New York Times have come to his defense. Why would they do this? The Federalist’s Tristan Justice asks the tough questions and provides the answers.
