Rep. Bonamici Released From Hospital After Being Hit by Car While Crossing Street

U.S. Rep. Suzanne Bonamici, D-Ore., Her communications director Saturday said that she was released from the hospital just hours after being struck by a car crossing a Portland street. 

Bonamici’s husband U.S. District Judge Michael H. Simon was also hit while the couple were in the crosswalk, her communications director Natalie Crofts tweeted. While her husband sustained minor injuries, she was treated for a head injury and suffered cuts. 

Crofts indicated that Bonamici was to make a Complete recovery But, you would be forced to miss two town halls scheduled for Saturday.

Oregon Public Broadcasting reported that the driver of the car that struck the couple near downtown at a slower speed cooperated with police, and that no arrests were made.

Bonamici was first elected to Oregon’s first district in 2012.
