Rep. Green Introduces Bill to Boost US-Poland Defense Ties on NATO Anniversary

On the 74th anniversary of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), Rep. Mark Green (R-Tenn.) introduced a bill aimed at increasing cooperation and training programs to enhance ties between the United States and Poland.

The bill, called the General Thaddeus Kosciuszko Memorial Exchange Program For Polish-American Defense Cooperation Act (pdf), was named after a hero of the Polish Revolutionary War, General Thaddeus Kosciuszko, who played a vital role in assisting the United States during the American Revolution and was a staunch defender of freedom and equality.

Green stressed the importance of strong allies, especially in light of an increasing Russian aggression and Chinese malice, who share the same values and can help counteract the same threats as the United States.

In his press release to The Epoch Times, Green stated that NATO has helped maintain relative global peace for over seven decades, and with China and Russia on the rise, the United States must stand with its allies to prevent them from weakening NATO’s influence.

Green hopes that the bill will serve as a demonstration to those who seek to undermine NATO that the most influential countries are united against tyranny, regardless of its form. The bill also proposal increased cooperation among NATO allies to promote and emphasize shared values.
