Rep. Adam Kinzinger’s (R-Ill.) crusade against President Trump has negatively affected his political life, as well as his personal life.
It was a sobering moment to vote in support of impeachment today; to walk over to the U.S. Capitol, our symbol of democracy, and recall the violent insurrection we witnessed here just one week ago. This is not a vote I took lightly, but a vote I took confidently. I’m at peace.

According to reports, 11 members of Kinzinger’s family wrote a two-page letter to him, condemning him for voting to impeach President Trump. The family members reportedly said he was a disappointment to the Kinzinger name and should be shunned for his actions.
Thank you, @GretchenCarlson I’m ok, more sad that someone would be willing to choose a man over family. And sad that it’s happening to so many. https://t.co/yx3XbsKjmm

“I was over at my parents house, and out of the nowhere I got a registered letter, to my parents house that same day, and I read it,” Kinzinger said. “It was just, I mean, two handwritten pages, really tiny letters, really angry, a lot of caps, just saying I’m in the devil’s army because I dare turned against President Trump.”
Kinzinger was censured by his district’s Republican Party, believing he is out of touch with the people he is supposed to serve.
