Rep. McCaul Likens Xi, Putin to Hitler at Meeting With Taiwan Vice President
During a meeting with Taiwanese Vice President Lai Ching-te in Taipei on April 6, Representative Michael McCaul (R-Texas) drew a comparison between Chinese leader Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin with Adolf Hitler. McCaul chairs the House Foreign Affairs Committee and led a bipartisan delegation of legislators to Taiwan amid criticism from China over House Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s (R-Calif.) meeting with Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen in Los Angeles. Despite China’s condemnation of the meeting, McCaul remains undeterred by the CCP’s “saber-rattling” and said that one goal of his Taiwan trip was to demonstrate that the United States would not bow to Chinese threats.
Lawmakers accompanying McCaul on the trip include Reps. Young Kim (R-Calif.), Ami Bera (D-Calif.), French Hill (R-Ark.), Madeleine Dean (D-Penn.), Guy Reschenthaler (R-Penn.), Michael Lawler (R-N.Y.), and Nathaniel Moran (R-Texas). McCaul’s delegation is set to meet with Tsai on March 8.
