Rep. Thomas Massie Introduces Legislation to End CDC’s Air Travel Vax Mandate
Republicans introduce bill to end CDC’s air travel vax mandate
The current mandate punishes people with no apparent reason or benefit to the public health.
The US has long since lost most of the COVID-19 restrictions. However, the Centers for Disease Control continue to requireWith very few exceptions, international travelers who travel by air must present proof of COVID-19 vaccination before they can enter the United States.
A group of House Republicans would like to resign this mandate.
Kentucky Republican Rep. Thomas Massie just introduced legislation to override the CDC requirements and prevent a similar requirement being reimplemented. Republican co-sponsored his legislation. Representatives Mary Miller, Ralph Norman and Scott Perry.
“If you watched C-SPAN last week, you saw 434 Members of Congress gathered in the Capitol screaming, yelling, cheering, and speaking. Many of these members are unvaccinated, and many haven’t taken boosters,” Massie said. “So, why do we subject visitors who want to see their families to this COVID-19 double standard?”
“The CDC’s unscientific mandate is separating too many people from their families and has been doing so for far too long. It needs to end,” The congressman concluded.
HR 185 was introduced to end the COVID-19 mandate on international air travel to the United States. We are grateful to our cosponsors @RepMaryMiller, @RepRalphNorman, @congbillposey, @RepGregSteube, @RepBrianMast @RepCloudTX. https://t.co/ma1fypSDq7

This seems to be common sense. At the moment, a negative COVID-19 testing is not enough documentation to be allowed into the US. But, being vaccinated and having a positive test is. So, you can test negative and not have COVID but still be denied entrance to the US because they’re worried you might bring in COVID since you’re unvaccinated. Is that possible?
What’s more, it’s long been clear that while it still protects against serious illness and death, the COVID-19 vaccine does not stop infection or transmission. It doesn’t matter if Americans are vaccinated.
There are many parts of the world where effective COVID-19 vaccines aren’t widely available. People from these areas and people who choose not to get vaccinated due to personal or medical reasons are being punished by the current mandate. This is for no apparent reason, and no benefit to public safety.
Here’s hoping Republicans can get this mandate off the books soon.
